JOWAR CAKE WITH PALM JAGGERY

      Jowar is gluten free whole grains which is called as sorghum in English and cholam in tamil. It belongs to the millet variety. It is rich in protein, fibers and iron. It is rich in magnesium which helps in the calcium absorption. It also has vitamin B, E, phosphorus, copper,zinc and Potassium. It is rich in antioxidants. Fibers helps in good digestion and weight loss. It helps in controlling blood glucose. It helps in lowering LDL cholesterol which reduces the risk of heart attack. 

      Let's make special cake using jowar on the special occasions.




INGREDIENTS 

Jowar flour               - 1 Cup 

Whole wheat flour   - 1 Cup 

Palm Jaggery           - 1 Cup 

Cocoa powder          - 3 Tbsp 

Milk                            - 1 Cup 

Egg                             - 3 

Butter                         - 1/2 Cup 

Baking powder         - 1 Tsp 

Baking soda              - 1/2 Tsp 

Salt                              - 1/4 Tsp 

Vanilla extract           - 1/2 Tsp 

Frosting

Heavy cream - 1 Cup 

Cream cheese - 4 Tbsp

Unbleached sugar - 3 Tsp 

corn flour - 1 Tsp 

PROCEDURE 

1. In a large bowl , add in the room temperature butter and beat very well with electric mixer or hand mixer.


2. Then add pure palm Jaggery powder and beat until the jaggery get incorporated with  butter.


3. Now add in the room temperature egg and beat along with the butter palm Jaggery mixture.


4. Add in the milk to the mixture and mix well.

4. Meanwhile dry roast jowar flour to enhance their flavor. ( Cool down)

5. Sieve jowar flour, whole wheat flour along with  cocoa powder,baking powder, salt,  baking soda.



6. Sieve thrice ( atleast)  to get super soft cake.

7. Preheat oven 350 F

8. Add the sieved dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix gently by cut and fold method.


 9. Transfer the cake batter to the greased pan and tap to remove the air bubbles.


10. In a long tray ,add water and place the cake pan  to get moist cake

11. Bake the cake for 25- 30 min or until get the clean tooth pick.

 12. Allow to cool down and gently unmold from the cake pan .

13. Yummy moist cake is ready. 


Whipping Cream cheese Frosting 

1. Take cream cheese in a freezed bowl , whisk nicel


2. Grind corn flour and sugar to a fine powder.

3. Add in the heavy cream, sugar mixture and beat with electric whisk until the peak formation .

4. The cream should not off from bowl, when we invert the bowl that is the consistency.



5. Avoid over whisking or it will start form butter.

6. Now whipped cream is ready.

7. After the cake is cool down completely, cut the cake horizontal to make two equal size cake .



8. Apply some palm jaggery syrup to make the cake extra moist.

10.Then spread the cream over the cake, as much we needed. Then place the next layer cake and spread cream all the surface of cake .





11. Now it's time for decoration.

12. Just cut heart shaped baking paper and place on the corner of the cake and using stainer sprinkle cocoa powder all over the cake. Then take out the heart shaped baking paper carefully.

13. This is one of the simplest way of decorating cake.

14. Then pipe up the frosting cream and make flower design as you like ( it is optional). 

15. Awesome cake is ready for great occasions.
