HEALTHY AND SUPER SOFT RAGI AAPPAM

        As all know, Ragi is the king of millets. It is rich in fibre, protein, calcium, vitamin D,iron, phosphorus and pottasium. It regulates blood sugar and blood cholesterol. It also have anticancer, anti aging and antimicrobial properties. 
 
        In addition to this, ragi appam is undergoing fermentation process. It is rich in probiotic bacteria which helps in adding beneficial bacterin and enzymes to intestinal flora . This help in increasing the health of digestive system and enhance the immune system

         Lets move on to our simple healthy Ragi appam recipe. 





INGREDIENTS

Ragi flour                - 2 Cup

Grated Coconut       - 1 Cup

Cooked rice             - 1 Cup

Salt                          - as per the taste

Jaggery powder      - 1 Tsp

Baking soda            - a pinch


PROCEDURE

1. In a bowl, add ragi flour and mix little water to make paste and then add little by little until reach the idli  batter consistency without any lumps.







2. Rest the batter around 10- 15 minutes.

3. Then add cooked rice and grated coconut into the batter.       

   

4. Grind them into a smooth batter.

5. It should be little thinner than idli batter, add jaggery powder and mix well .

                                

6. Allow to ferment overnight.

                        

7. Check for batter consistency and add little water if needed.

8. Add salt and pinch of baking soda and keep aside for 5- 10 minutes.

                   

9. In the hot appam pan, pour the batter and rotate  circular motion to get thin edges.  

10. Drizzle some oil on the edges and allow to form holes on the appam.

                         

11. Then cover and cook a minute.

                       

12. Super soft, porous, healthy and tasty ragi appam is ready to serve with coconut milk or simple kurma.
