CORN WHOLE WHEAT RAVIOLI WITH WHITE SAUCE

    Ravioli is a traditional Italian dish. It is a wrapping made of egg pasta that can be filled with various ingredients like meet, vegetables and cheese. Its usually square shaped and served with sauce.

 In this recipe , we are going to try pasta with whole wheat flour, stuff with corn and cream cheese, serve with white sauce. Lets move on to the recipe.

                               

                                        


INGREDIENTS

Dough

Whole wheat flour           - 1 3/4 Cup

Egg                                  - 2

Water                               - 1 Tbsp or less

Salt                                  - 1 Tsp

Oil                                   - 1 Tsp

Stuffing

Frozen Corn                - 1 Cup

Cream cheese               - 2 Tbsp

Pepper                          -  1/4 Tsp

Italian Herbs (mixed)  - 1/2 Tsp

Salt                              - 1/4 Tsp

White Sauce

Butter                          - 1 Tbsp

Wheat flour                 - 1 Tbsp

Milk                             - 2 Cup

Pepper                          - 1/4 Tsp 

Italian herbs                 -  1/2 Tsp

Shredded Cheese         - 2 Tbsp

Topping

Shredded Cheese        - 1/4 Cup

Pepper                         - as needed


PROCEDURE

Dough

1. In a bowl, add whole wheat flour and salt and mix well.

2. Then add two egg and whisk the egg and mix along with the flour   

                         

3. Add little water if needed .

4. Then mix together to make a firm dough.

5. Kneed  for 5 minutes to form a soft dough.

6. Apply oil on the surface to rest it at least for 30 minutes.  


                               


Stuffing

1. Pulse corn once to get coarse corn.

                           

2. Transfer the coarse mixture in a bowl, add cream cheese, salt, pepper and mixed herbs.

                        

3. Stuffing is ready.

                         


 Ravioli Assembly

1. Sprinkle some flour, and roll the dough into very thin sheet.

2. Cut the sheet using desire cookie cutter. 

                      

                       

3. Place 1 tsp of stuffing in the center of one piece .

                   

4. Apply water on the edges of the piece and close it with another piece.

5. Press the edges with fork to seal it completely.

                  

6. Do the same with the other pieces.

                  

7. Meanwhile, boil water in wide pan, add salt and oil.

8. Once the water get roll boiled, drop the prepared ravioli one by  one.

                  

9. Allow to cook for 7- 8 min or until tender ( ravioli floats when cooked).

                 

10. Remove the ravioli and allow to drain the water completely.

White Sauce

1. In a sauce pan, add butter and allow to melt.

2. Lower the flame and add wheat flour and mix well to make creamy texture.

3. Add little milk and mix well at medium flame until it reaches creamy texture.

4. Then add milk again and repeat the process until the milk is completely used.

5. Then add pepper, salt, Italian herbs (add 1 tbsp of stuffings in this stage, its optional).

6. Finally add shredded cheese and switch off the flame.

                                    


Serving

 1.Place cooked ravioli in a serving plate, add in the hot creamy white sauce ,sprinkle shredded cheese.

(ravioli can also toss with white sauce before serving)
